Our client in Toronto is looking for a hardworking Legal Assistant with Corporate Commercial and/or Financial Services experience. The role will be assisting a lawyer who works primarily in the areas of insolvency and corporate/commercial law, focusing on reorganizations, restructurings and liquidations with emphasis in the areas of secured financing, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy and insolvency. The right candidate will be a self-motivated individual who enjoys being busy. Being able to work both independently and on a team is important in this role, and a high attention to detail is required.


  • Prepare, draft, edit and finalize closing agendas and all transactional documents relating to lending and corporate transactions
  • Organize and track delivery of closing documents
  • Draft renewal agreements for lending transactions
  • Prepare annual resolutions
  • Compile Record Books
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external clients
  • Proofread and check documents
  • Diarize and track deadlines
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Handle a high volume of daily administrative tasks
  • Manage duties related to accounting
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Arrange meetings
  • Calendar management
  • Takes initiative

  • Minimum of 5 years’ previous experience as a Legal Assistant in Financial Services or Corporate Law
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
  • Knowledge of Workshare Compare or a similar document comparison program
  • Overtime, as required
  • Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands


  • Microsoft 365 suite of applications, including experience with creating, numbering, styling and rebuilding documents
  • Familiarity with iManage and DocuSign
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Good judgement and decision making
  • Strong interpersonal skills
